How Do I Compare Two Utah Builders in the Same Community?
Do this in an organized way, not an emotional one. First: which builder has floor plans you actually like better? That usually narrows it fast. If you like plans from more than one builder, compare price per square foot – but adjust for the standard features list. A builder with a higher price per square foot that includes better flooring and cabinets you would have upgraded anyway with the other builder is not really more expensive. Next, take one plan from each builder and have each sales rep build out full pricing with all the features you want, then compare those totals. For spec or already-under-construction homes where the builder picked the finishes, compare what features are available, compare prices, and weigh which features you actually want versus ones the builder threw in that you do not care about. Then look at lot sizes and available locations. If two homes from different builders come out equally priced with the upgrades you want, the tiebreaker is location within the development – which spot do you prefer.
