Absolutely, and it's often one of the best ways to get into a new home without a lot of trips to Utah. Builders typically have virtual tours, and on an inventory or spec home, the builder has already chosen all the upgrades, finishes, and fixtures and can show you the exact design plan on video. Technically, you could go through the entire process without ever setting foot in Utah. An agent can drive neighborhoods, communities, and developments and walk through model homes on video specifically for out-of-state buyers. It's nice if a buyer can make one Utah trip to confirm in person what's already been shown on video, but it's not required, homes have been sold to buyers as far away as India without them ever setting foot on the property before closing. Closing itself has gotten easier too. Mobile and even virtual notary services are now widely available, new within the last year or so, to walk through and notarize documents remotely. Earnest money gets sent electronically, down payments get wired, and all communication with the builder, lender, and agent happens by email. Buying new construction from out of state has become genuinely easy post-COVID, in a way it simply wasn't before.
